    Independence & Kebler Passes, Trail Ridge and Other High Elevation Roads Remain Closed for Holiday

    Many of Colorado's high passes and mountain highways won't be opening anytime soon. While a snowy winter and a series of potent spring storms have served to obliterate drought conditions statewide for the first time in years, it's also hampering efforts to open roads that are traditionally open by Memorial Day.

    At the Colorado Creative Industries summit in Salida last week, Amy Kimberly of Carbondale Arts and the Carbondale Creative District was honored with the Governor's Creative Leadership Award. After an extended ovation, she called Carbondale her muse and humbly shared the spotlight with staff members Laura Stover, Brian Colley, Staci Dickerson, Kat Rich, and Rachael Manning. She ended the speech by raising her fist and declaring, "Together, we are a force!"

    The Southern and Western regions of the United States continued to have the nation's fastest-growing cities between 2017 and 2018, according to new population estimates for cities and towns released Thursday.

    New York still leads all American cities with 8.4 million residents.

    But as NPR's Hansi Lo Wang reports, cities in Arizona, Texas, Washington and North Carolina top the list of rapidly growing municipalities.

    The two defendants, Richard Miller, 24, and Allison Marcus, 23, will plead guilty to one count of Setting Fire to Woods or Prairie. In exchange, the 5th Judicial District Attorney’s office dropped three felony charges and reduced the remaining charge to a misdemeanor.
